Saturday Reads: Stuff We Wish We'd Written
With the CCP and it's shills doing such stupid stuff these days it's hard to keep up and rebut their narrative. Fortunately there are great people out there also doing it outside the mainstream media
Free Speech is a core value for Prairie Fire: But to deserve the right to discourse, you need to reciprocate. Australia needs a whole of society approach to negotiating with China. Tingle needs to see the big picture.
No one can accuse Laura Tingle of kissing China’s arse. Not only is the reality family friendly, but its all respectfully directed to her.
maybe she can get the Australia China relationship back on track. (see end of this article from us)
The thugs in Hong Kong have decided we need to have our thoughts re-wired. JCDecaux thought their money smelt ok, so they took it. Seems ethical investors will care about all sorts of things but there is no code of conduct for business where propaganda is concerned. We would not criticise a Hong Kong Tourism campaign, but this …is not that.
We have a better idea.
Seeking input from Hong Kong people, how about this? I added the last one since we need to replace opportunity with something more inspiring and defiant.
Waleed Aly Joins The China Grovellers - Macrobusiness August 12
David Llewellyn-Smith points out the faulty logic of Waleed Aly’s recent piece in the SMH:
He lists some actions we can take, pointing out that there’s a lot we can do other than rush conscripts to be parachuted into Taiwan in event of a stoush. We were a bit concerned about some of his ideas though. Perhaps he was in a rush to press the print button.
Prairie would add:
On supporting Taiwan, Australia could withhold iron ore supplies. US could ask Brazil nicely to stop supplying as well. This would cost us all a fortune, but the money made selling iron ore to Japan before World War 2 wasn’t really worth it. In fact if we were neutral, China would still need to control our iron ore to run their country and continue a war, anyway. Our battles might be defending withheld iron ore and gas rather than actually fighting in Taiwan.
Prairie is sympathetic to the desire to ban We-Chat, but this is not a simple decision.
Prairie would not like to jump to the conclusion that we should ban Chinese immigration, but a discussion on whether CCP membership should be treated as membership of an extremist organisation is reasonable, and how we build a strategy to win hearts and minds of pro-CCP elements should be high priorities.
Kevin Yam got straight to the point on TEX (Tin Ear Xiao) and his attempt to get us used to being bullied.
funny guy huh ?
